Jean Coldsmith

Jean Coldsmith
Principal

Jean’s background was originally in psychology, and held jobs working with handicapped children and children who were victims of abuse.  She began her education career as an elementary teacher in a variety of environments, such as the Navajo reservation, her hometown of Alexandria, Virginia, and for the Department of Defense in Germany.  Jean and her husband moved to Jackson when Jean was hired as the school counselor in 1991.  She held this position for 11 years before becoming principal in 2002. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in both psychology and education, a Master’s of Science degree in Counseling and an Administration Endorsement. She gives the quality staff at JHMS as well as the students' motivation credit for the consistently high PAWS scores students achieve at the Middle School. "We are fortunate to have such an exceptional staff that holds high expectations for students while truly enjoying the unique characteristics of the middle school student". As a parent of two boys and principal she feels fortunate to live in a community that values education and supports the schools.

Bo Miller
Assistant Principal
and
TCSD ESL Director

Bo began his career in education as a secondary English teacher. He taught at JHMS for 8 years, and before that he worked in corporate America. In between the two career paths, he and his wife managed to travel the world extensively before settling down in Jackson in 1993. He and his wife Teresa now have three children, all of whom are currently attending Teton County schools. He is very excited to start his administration path at the Middle School, as it is a "community of learners" that he is committed to and believes in. "The staff at JHMS is there for the students, and not just for academic interests, but for the whole young person. It is an amazing school to work in, and one I am proud to be a part of."
